John Holmes è stato un tossicodipendente, sieropositivo e pluriarrestato personaggio degli anni ’70 e ’80. Certo, sì, è stato anche il più famoso attore pornografico di tutti i tempi.
Nel 1978 Holmes dichiarava di guadagnare circa 3.000 $ al giorno, esclusivamente come pornoattore. Tuttavia il suo consumo di cocaina andava di molto oltre le sue pur enormi possibilità economiche. In quegli anni si prostituiva con uomini e donne, spacciava per conto di bande criminali e rapinava tutto ciò che poteva.
Finì ripetutamente in carcere ma il problema più grosso gli derivò dal suo coinvolgimento negli omicidi di Wonderland. Holmes infatti faceva il doppio gioco tra la banda di Wonderland e Eddie Nash, noto trafficante. Ci fu un escalation che portò alla rapina, da parte della banda, al deposito di Nash, il quale rispose uccidendone 4 membri a bastonate. In entrambi i fatti Holmes era presente.
Dopo la galera le richieste di lavoro per lui si impennarono ulteriormente. Diventò famoso in tutto il mondo grazie alle dimensioni del suo pene. A metà anni ’80 però, impossibile stabilire con esattezza quando, subentra il più grosso dei problemi di Holmes: l’AIDS.
Nessuno sa perché, ma il famigerato pornoattore continuò a recitare sui set non protetto, mettendo così in pericolo la vita di moltissime attrici. Nel 1986 girò anche un film in Italia con Cicciolina, che rischiò quindi parecchio. Smise di lavorare quando il corpo non lo reggeva più.
Holmes continuò con l’alcool, la cocaina e arrivò a fumare 5-6 pacchetti di sigarette al giorno. Prossimo alla morte, diede ordine che prima di essere cremato si controllasse che il suo pene non fosse stato escisso da qualche depravato. Di questo Holmes era letteralmente terrorizzato. Morì nel 1988 all’età di 44 anni.
Si sposò 21enne e si arrangiava con lavori umili. Poi un giorno nei bagni di un locale conobbe un uomo che lo fece entrare nel mondo della pornografia. Citando Elio e le Storie Tese: “John Holmes, una vita per il cinema”. Più o meno.

After the jail, job request increased so much for him. He became famous in all the world thanks to his penis’ dimension. In the middle ’80s, however, it’s impossible to determine exactly when, took place Holmes’ biggest problem: the AIDS.
No-one knows why, but the famous porn actor went on to perform without condom, put in danger the life of too many actress. In 1986 he also performed in an italian movie with Cicciolina, who had a big risk. He gave up to work when his body didn’t held up himself.
Holmes went on drinking, abusing cocaine and he smoked 5-6 cigarettes pack per day. Next to death, he ordered to a doctor to control that his penis was in his own place after death. Holmes was terrorized about the possibility that anyone would cut off his penis. He died in 1988 at the age of 44.
